Casto, Cougs cool Sun Devils

PULLMAN (AP) - DeAngelo Casto scored 25 points and Klay Thompson added 22 as Washington State defeated Arizona State 78-61 on Thursday night.

Thompson scored 14 of his points in the second half. His two straight 3-pointers in the first two minutes after halftime gave the Cougars (14-5, 4-3 Pac-10) a 50-38 lead.

Casto shot 11 of 18 from the field and had four blocks.

Ty Abbott led the Sun Devils (9-9, 1-5) with 16 points.

Washington State was without its second-leading scorer, Faisal Aden (knee). Arizona State was without three reserves due to injury or illness: Carrick Felix, Brandon Dunson and Chanse Creekmur.

Reggie Moore, who was suspended by Cougars coach Ken Bone for the Stanford game on Saturday, started and finished with 11 points.

Washington State hosts Arizona on Saturday.
