| January 20, 2011 12:29 PM

Liliana Piarulli, 87, passed away peacefully at her Coeur d'Alene home on Jan. 18, 2011, with Vito, her devoted husband of 68 years by her side. Liliana was born in Pola, Italy, in 1923 to Guiseppina and Anthony Poiani. Liliana and Vito emigrated to America in 1952 and began their life here in Kellogg. In 1967 they relocated to Coeur d'Alene.

Liliana worked in the lunch room for several years at Borah Elementary School where she truly enjoyed the friendship of her coworkers, the teachers and the students. Prior to Borah Elementary, Liliana worked as a secretary for the Bunker Hill Corporation in Kellogg. Liliana lived in close proximity to Borah Elementary for more than 40 years and she delighted in seeing the children walking to and from the school. Liliana was a true animal-lover and pampered many lucky dogs that were her companions over the years. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing solitaire. She had a sparkling sense of humor and loved to laugh.

She is survived by her husband, Vito of Coeur d'Alene; daughter Lori and son-in-law Dan of Issaquah, Wash.; brother Claudio and sister-in-law Eva of Bowie, Md.; sister Noemi of Trieste, and brother Luciano and sister-in-law Elda of La Spezia, Italy.

Liliana is preceded in death by her parents, Guiseppina and Anthony. Special thank you to Dr. Barbara Daugharty, the caring Nurses at KMH, Pinewood staff including Dave, Rick and Leni, Idaho Home Health Care Suzanne and Brett and dear neighbors Ramona and Family and Peterson family.

Per Liliana's request no services will be held. In lieu of flowers you may send donations to the Kootenai Humane Society P.O. Box 1005 Hayden ID 83835. Yates Funeral Homes has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
