IDFG Commission to meet in Boise this month

The Idaho Fish and Game Commission will set seasons for moose, bighorn sheep and mountain goat for 2011 and 2012 during the annual meeting Jan. 26 and 27 in Boise.

Commissioners will meet with the Senate Resources and Environment Committee at the Statehouse Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 26, followed by an executive session around 3:45 p.m.

A public hearing will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Fish and Game headquarters, 600 S. Walnut, Boise.

Thursday morning, Jan. 27, commissioners will set moose, sheep and goat seasons. Later in the morning, commissioners will hear an update on the deer and elk population status, and a briefing on mandatory harvest reports.

They also will hear an update on ungulate predation research, consider two land acquisitions and hear a budget preview.

After lunch, commissioners will hear a legislative update and updates on salmon forecasts and potential seasons in 2011.
