Herb Rische, 78

Herb Rische passed away Jan. 9, 2011, at his home in Coeur d'Alene.

He was born Sept. 17, 1932, in Eureka, S.D., the son of Irvin and Augusta (Wessel) Rische.

Herb grew up in Sough Dakota and graduated from Herreid High School in 1950. In 1951 he married Mickey Hoime and served four years in the U.S. Air Force in Texas.

He established and operated a custom cabinet shop in the Chatsworth and Canoga Park, Calif., area and operated it for more than 30 years.

Herb moved to Coeur d'Alene in 1990 and established "Action Woodworks." He owned and operated the custom cabinet shop for 20 years building and finishing custom cabinets.

Survivors include son Bob Rische of Canoga Park; daughters, Patricia Herman of Santa Rosa, Calif., LouAnn Cooper of Agoura Hills, Calif., Jene (Tim) Lucchino of Lancaster, Pa.; granddaughter Chrissy (Norm) Strasser of Santa Rosa; grandson Cole Lucchino of Lancaster; one great-grandson, Samuel Strasser of Santa Rosa; three nephews; one niece; his best friend, Mickey and a very special friend, David Millagan.

His hobbies included socializing at the "Rockin Robin" and "Down the Street" cafe's drinking Pepsi and smoking cigarettes. He especially enjoyed all the waitresses.

Herb was preceded in death by his parents and sister Jennie Ochsner.

A memorial/celebration will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at the Wooden Shoe, S. Spokane St. in Post Falls. Inurnment will be held in Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth at a later date.

Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
