Chiefs rout Kootenay at Outdoor Hockey Classic

SPOKANE - Steve Kuhn had two goals and an assist for the Spokane Chiefs in an 11-2 win over the Kootenay Ice on Saturday in front of 7,075 at the Outdoor Hockey Classic at Avista Stadium.
Spokane jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the first period and scored six goals in the second to take a commanding 10-2 lead in the first outdoor game played in the Western Hockey League's history.
Tyler Vanscourt had two goals and former Coeur d'Alene Laker Tyler Johnson scored his league-leading 33rd goal in the second period for Spokane, which matched a season high with 11 goals.
Matt Marantz capped the scoring for Spokane in the third.
James Reid had 23 saves for Spokane (26-11-3-2, 58 points), which plays the Silvertips at Everett, Wash., today at 5 p.m.
