Bulldogs win, Bonners gets Moose

BONNERS FERRY - Blaine Schultz had 14 points and five steals to lead the Sandpoint Bulldogs past the Bonners Ferry Badgers 64-62 in the "Moose Madness" nonleague game on Saturday.

Bonners Ferry won the spirit competition between the two schools.

Mat Evans scored 22 points for Bonners Ferry.

Sandpoint (6-6) hosts Lake City on Tuesday.

SPOKANE - Kellen Clute scored 28 points to lead the Wildcats past the top-ranked Trojans in a nonleague game.

"We played very uninspired today," Post Falls coach Mike McLean said. "We're traveling along this journey so far this season and we're playing at the level of our competition, which is fine when teams bring energy. But this was our first, very poor four quarters and overtime."

Connor Hill had 28 points, Marcus Colbert 17 and seven assists and Luke Thoreson had 16 points for Post Falls (11-2), which hosts Lewiston on Thursday. Damon Gonzales had seven assists for Post Falls.

RATHDRUM - Lane Brooks scored nine points to lead the Bears to a 4A Inland Empire League win over the Hawks.

"They found a couple of holes in our zone in the fourth quarter and got a couple of easy baskets," Lakeland coach Trent Derrick said. "I thought our kids played well and executed what we wanted to do well. Moscow just did a good job of staying patient."

Alex Opland scored 12 points for Lakeland (2-11, 0-2 4A IEL), which travels to Coeur d'Alene on Tuesday.

Roby Jung scored seven points for Moscow (4-8, 2-1).

ST. MARIES - Senior Jake Mercer had 24 points, six rebounds and five assists as the fifth-ranked (3A) Lumberjacks defeated the Wildcats in an Intermountain League game.

"Jake led us by far tonight," St. Maries coach Craig Wicks said. "We got some excellent play out of Nick Cordell, Jaden Guidry and Ryan Kennelly off the bench."

St. Maries lost leading scorer Zach Lehman two minutes into the game with an ankle injury.

"He's going to be out a while," Wicks said. "Hopefully we'll have him back in a couple weeks. We were short anyway, but those kids played a whale of a game."

Tyler Morgan scored 12 points for Kellogg (9-3, 2-1 IML), which hosts Kootenai on Thursday.

Warren Joiner scored 10 points for St. Maries (11-2, 2-0), which travels to the Lake City JV on Wednesday.

SPIRIT LAKE - Senior Max Salesky scored 28 points to lead the second-ranked (3A) Spartans past the Tigers in the "Battle for the Buck" game in Intermountain League action.

"Priest River is a great team," Timberlake coach Jim Simpson said. "They shot the ball extremely well. We hung in there and competed with them. We worked hard and I'm proud of how my kids played tonight."

Brian Cronnelly scored 31 points for Timberlake (2-11, 0-3 IML), which travels to Lakeland on Wednesday.

Jaden Barrett scored 14 points for Priest River (9-3, 1-0), which hosts Sandpoint on Tuesday.
