Timberwolves keep pace in 5A IEL race
COEUR d'ALENE - Senior Chris Wheelock scored 15 points as the Lake City Timberwolves defeated the Lewiston Bengals 67-53 on Friday night at Lake City High to remain tied for first place in the 5A Inland Empire League standings.
"We came out with more defensive intensity in the second half," Lake City assistant coach Kelly Reed said. "They shot the ball extremely well in the first half and had eight 3s in the first half. We came out and contested more shots in the second half. Offensively, we were pretty balanced with four players in double figures."
Mark Smyly had 14 points, Kyle Guice 13 and Brady Smith 12 for Lake City (12-2, 2-1 5A IEL), which travels to Lewiston next Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
Matt Kalbfleisch scored 17 points for Lewiston (7-6, 1-2), which travels to Post Falls on Thursday.
