Chiefs' winning streak snapped

CRANBROOK, British Columbia - Kevin King scored two power-play goals in the second period as the Kootenay Ice defeated the Spokane Chiefs 6-2 in Western Hockey League action at the Cranbrook Recreational Complex.

Spokane (25-11-3-2, 55 points) allowed a season-high three power-play goals and saw its seven-game winning streak snapped.

Former Coeur d'Alene Laker Tyler Johnson scored his league-leading 32nd goal in the first period to cut Spokane's deficit to 2-1.

Kootenay extended its lead to 4-1 before a Steve Kuhn power-play goal late in the second period made it 4-2.

Kootenay added a pair of power-play goals in the final period.

The teams face off today in the Outdoor Hockey Classic at Avista Stadium at 1 p.m.
