COEUR d'ALENE - The 27-year-old Missoula, Mont., woman involved in a head-on collision on Interstate 90 at Wallace on Jan. 6 died at Kootenai Medical Center on Wednesday night as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

Kate E. Cummings died at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to Idaho State Police, Cummings was westbound at 10:38 a.m. driving a 2006 Subaru Impreza.

Meanwhile, Yuriy V. Kushniruk, 30, Vancouver, Wash., was eastbound in a 2005 Kenworth semi, traveling too fast for road conditions, according to the Idaho State Police.

Kushniruk lost control of his vehicle on the slushy road and struck the center median barrier. The truck then went up and over the barrier, striking Cummings' vehicle head-on. The semi truck then caught fire, but was extinguished quickly.

No charges have been filed against Kushniruk, an ISP employee said on Thursday.

Kushniruk was not injured, police said and it's unknown if Kushniruk or Cummings were wearing their seat belts.
