Post Falls tunes up for Duals with 2 wins
POST FALLS — Peter Berger started the night and ended it with pins as Post Falls whipped Bishop Kelly 69-3 and Capital 54-24 on Thursday at The Arena.
“We liked the way that some of the younger guys that were in the lineup stepped in and wrestled real hard for us,” Post Falls assistant coach Mike Booth said.
Of the youngsters, Taylor Abbott (130), Aaron Dyk (135) and Denley Waldo (189) each had pins on the night for the Trojans.
Post Falls hosts the 14th annual River City Duals today and Saturday at The Arena. Other teams expected are Bishop Kelly, Capital, Cheney, Columbia, Colville, Ephrata, Freeman, Gonzaga Prep, Kellogg, Lakeland, Lewiston, Nampa, Pasco, Priest River, Rogers, Shadle Park, St. Maries, Timberlake, Wallace, Medical Lake, Caldwell and Riverside.
Each school will wrestle two duals today, beginning at 3 p.m., and two more on Saturday, starting at 9 a.m.
The placing round for places 11-20 is scheduled for Saturday at 3:30 p.m., followed by the matches for places 1-10 at 5 p.m.
Columbia (of Nampa), Post Falls, Caldwell and Lewiston are expected to contend for the title. Columbia, a 4A power, is the three-time defending River City Duals champs.
