CHICAGO - Coeur d'Alene High senior Kinsey Gomez has been selected Gatorade Idaho girls cross country runner of the year for the second straight year.

Gomez won her third state 5A championship last fall with a time of 19 minutes, 1.92 seconds over 3.1 miles, more than 30 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Gomez went on to finish 48th at the Foot Locker West Regional championships in 19:42.

Gomez has a 4.25 GPA with a course load of advanced placement and honors classes. A member of her church youth group, she has volunteered on behalf of multiple charity fundraiser road races.

"Kinsey Gomez is one of the most successful and dedicated runners I have ever seen," Boise High coach Dave Mills said in a release. "She dominated her competition all season and has won three state championships at the class 5A level. She is absolutely outstanding."

Gomez said she has verbally committed to run track and cross country at Oregon State.
