Eldyn L. Colburn, 74

Eldyn L. Colburn, 74, passed away on Friday, Dec. 31, 2010.

Eldyn was born in North Hornell, N.Y., on Feb. 16, 1936, the son of Harry and Mildred Colburn.

Eldyn enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Korea. After his tour of duty, he re-enlisted to serve as Air Traffic Controller at the Pentagon under President John F. Kennedy, for a total if seven years of proud service in his country.

He was well respected in the business world of Labor Relations for the Seafood industry. Eldyn loved his work and his hobby of boating in the San Juans.

He is survived by his wife, Jean in Post Falls; three children, Greg Colburn of Camano Island, Wash., Lori Henson of Boone, N.C., and Phillip Eckert of Georga; five grandchildren; a brother, Everett Colburn of Painted Post, N.Y.; and sister Betty Stewart of Williamsport, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey; parents Mildred and Harry; brother Clair and sister Dorothy Cole.

The family extends their gratitude for the loving care he received at Life Care Center of Coeur d'Alene. Final arrangements have been entrusted to English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls.

Services and inurnment will be held at 11:15 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, Wash.
