GIRLS BASKETBALL

POST FALLS - Jenna Lewis hit four free throws in the final 19 seconds as the Lake City Timberwolves defeated the Post Falls Trojans 43-40 in a 5A Inland Empire League game Tuesday at The Arena.

"Jenna is 96 percent from the line this season," Lake City coach Royce Johnston said. "We've talked about it all season long. She's a very confident shooter. They called a timeout to freeze her and she was singing along with the pep band. Once I saw her doing that, I knew we were in good shape."

Alyssa Kacalek scored nine points for Lake City (13-3, 2-1 5A IEL), which hosts league- leading Lewiston on Friday.

"It's a big game for us," Johnston said. "I think we've got a shot. We're the underdogs and we've really got nothing to lose. Alyssa had a big game for us and I was really proud of the girls coming off the Fish game to go on the road and pull out a win like this."

Tori Davenport scored 11 points for Post Falls.

"I thought we played really intelligent basketball tonight," Post Falls coach Chris Johnson said. "All we had to do was close the deal, but we didn't get it done."

Post Falls (6-8, 0-4) travels to Coeur d'Alene on Friday.

"This game shows the league is a lot closer than anyone expected," Johnson said. "We had every chance to get the win tonight. We'll see who is playing their best basketball come the tournament."
