Jonathan Byrd opened the PGA Tour season Sunday by winning the Tournament of Champions in Kapalua, Hawaii, in a sudden-death playoff against Robert Garrigus, who missed a 3-foot par putt on the second extra hole.

Football

Running backs Curtis Martin, Jerome Bettis, Marshall Faulk and cornerback Deion Sanders are among 15 finalists announced for the Pro Football Hall of Fame's class of 2011.

Martin, Bettis and Faulk are among the NFL's top 10 leading rushers, and are eligible for the first time. Sanders and offensive tackle Willie Roaf also are eligible for the first time.

The other finalists are receivers Tim Brown, Andre Reed and Cris Carter; center Dermontti Dawson; defensive ends Richard Dent, Charles Haley and Chris Doleman; defensive tackle Cortez Kennedy; and tight end Shannon Sharpe, along with NFL filmmaker Ed Sabol.

• Former Oregon coach Mike Bellotti said Stanford has not reached out to him about its coaching vacancy and he hasn't tried to contact Cardinal officials.

No. 1 Duke 71, Maryland 64: Kyle Singler had 25 points and a season-high 10 rebounds, and the Blue Devils (15-0, 2-0 ACC) beat Maryland (10-5, 0-2) in Durham, N.C.

No. 2 Ohio State 67, Minnesota 64: At Columbus, Ohio, David Lighty scored 19 points to lead the Buckeyes (16-0, 3-0 Big Ten) past Minnesota (12-4, 1-3).

No. 3 Kansas 67, Michigan 60, OT: At Ann Arbor, Mich., Marcus Morris scored 22 points, and the Jayhawks (15-0) beat the Wolverines (11-5) to remain undefeated.

No. 7 Villanova 72, No. 24 Cincinnati 61: At Villanova, Pa., Corey Fisher scored 21 points as Villanova (14-1, 3-0 Big East) beat Cincinnati (15-1, 2-1).

No. 11 Purdue 75, Iowa 52: At West Lafayette, Ind., Ryne Smith scored 18 points to help the Boilermakers (15-1, 4-0 Big Ten) beat the Hawkeyes (7-8, 0-3).

Southern California 63, UCLA 52: Nikola Vucevic scored 20 points to lead the Trojans (10-6, 2-1 Pac 10) past the visiting Bruins (9-6, 1-2) in Los Angeles.

Boise State 79, Hawaii 55: La'Shard Anderson scored 12 of his game-high 20 points in the first half to help Boise State (11-5, 4-0 Western Athletic Conference) over Hawaii (9-7, 0-4) late Saturday night in Honolulu.

Heat 107, Trail Blazers 100, OT: LeBron James scored 44 points and Dwyane Wade added 34 points to lead visiting Miami over Portland.

Hornets 96, Nuggets 87: Chris Paul scored 20 points help visiting New Orleans beat Denver.
