Ost, Wilson 2nd as Trojans 4th at Rollie Lane

| January 9, 2011 8:00 PM

NAMPA — James Ost (135 pounds) and Austin Wilson (145) finished second Saturday as the Post Falls Trojans finished fourth at the Rollie Lane Invitational at the Idaho Center.

“It was a good weekend for us,” Post Falls coach Pete Reardon said. “We had a few injuries and held some guys back, but since we had two 145-pounders, Austin Wilson’s points didn’t count for us this weekend. If we had his points, we could have won the thing.”

Ost lost 3-2 to Joey Delgado of Hermiston (Ore.) in the finals. Wilson was pinned by Casey George of Lewiston in the finals.

Hermiston won with 75 points. Columbia (Nampa) was second with 72, followed by Caldwell with 57 and Post Falls with 56. Coeur d’Alene was 11th with 32 points.

Tyler Booth (140) finished third, Mitch Crain (112) fourth, Nathan McLeod (152) fifth and Colton Peugh (145) sixth for Post Falls.

Coeur d’Alene had three wrestlers out of 12 that advanced to the bracket round placing, with Garrett DeMers (171) and Caleb Davis (189) finishing fourth. Kenny Staub was fifth at 140 pounds.

“Yesterday, we wrestled real tough,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. “We didn’t wrestle really well today. Whether it was the late night on Friday, every other team was in the same boat. Caleb had a really good tournament and had a good win against Patrick Davis from Borah that beat him on Thursday. Garrett was wrestling his first matches of the year and Kenny wrestled well. We just need to get into the wrestling room and get better. It was a little disappointing, but we had some tough draws and didn’t perform in some.”

Post Falls hosts Capital and Bishop Kelly on Thursday.

Coeur d’Alene hosts Capital on Thursday.

Belgarde, Dillon win at Cheney

CHENEY — Garret Belgarde (125 pounds) and Peyton Dillon (119) each won titles to lead Sandpoint at the Cheney Invitational.

The Bulldogs sent 12 wrestlers to the tournament, with five top-four placers. Jerad Fowler (103) and Kyle Csizmar (145) each finished second, and Troy Goodman (135) finished fourth to round out the Bulldog placers.

Sandpoint will face Lake City and host Bonners Ferry in a tri-match on Tuesday.

Cody Hongslo (119 pounds) and Walker Herring (145) placed second for Timberlake.

“Cody wrestled really tough up until the finals,” Timberlake coach Ryan Montang said. “For Walker, it was the first finals he’s made. He wrestled a good tournament and probably the best I’ve seen him wrestle.”

Kyle White (152) finished third and Allan Foote (285) was fourth for Timberlake.

“Kyle lost his first match and had to beat him again to place third,” Montang said. “It’s pretty hard to win back through the losers bracket to place through the back door.”

Timberlake hosts Priest River in the third annual War of the Waters on Tuesday.

LC’s Partenfelder

third at U-High

SPOKANE — Lake City junior Nathan Partenfelder defeated Connor Rosane of Southridge High in Kennewick 4-2 to finish third at 140 pounds for the Timberwolves in the University tournament.

“I thought we wrestled well this weekend,” Lake City coach Corey Owen said. “We had seven kids in the round to place and quite a few guys knocking on the door. I thought our kids scrapped well all weekend long.”

Dakota Schnall (145) and Nick Wells (125) finished sixth for Lake City, which faces Bonners Ferry and Sandpoint Tuesday in Bonners Ferry.
