| January 8, 2011 8:00 PM

Home school students from across North Idaho are invited to participate in the eighth annual North Idaho Regional Spelling Bee, to be held at North Idaho College March 19.

The winner of the regional spelling bee will receive an all-expense paid trip to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in June, courtesy of Hagadone Newspapers.

All home school students between fourth and eighth grades will compete together in a home school spelling bee at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22 at Grace Bible Church in Coeur d'Alene. Five winners, one from each grade level, will participate in the North Idaho Regional Spelling Bee in March at NIC.

The NIHEA has registered with the national office, paying the same enrollment fee that schools must pay to participate in the spelling bee. Families must first pay an NIHEA membership fee of $5 in order to participate in the home school spelling bee.

The deadline for registering over the phone or by mail is Thursday, Jan. 13. Membership fees can be mailed to the NIHEA at P.O. Box 2885, Hayden, ID 83835.
