Buchmann's play off bench ignites Lakeland

RATHDRUM - Neena Buchmann had 16 points, 10 rebounds and five steals off the bench as the Lakeland Hawks defeated the Bonners Ferry Badgers 69-46 in a nonleague game at Hawk Court on Friday night.

"Bonners did a good job of breaking our press in the first quarter," Lakeland coach Steve Seymour said. "We were able to score in transition and scored more than they did, but our defense struggled. We did much better defensively in the second and third quarter and I thought our girls did a good job of distributing the ball."

Kerstyn Reed scored 12 points and Darby Murray had eight assists for Lakeland (9-6), which hosts Colville today.

Marcayle Acord scored 14 points for Bonners Ferry.

COEUR d'ALENE - Paige Kelly scored 27 points and was 12 of 12 from the foul line as the Panthers defeated the Royals in a nonleague game at Holy Family Catholic School.

"We came out strong and played hard through the first three quarters," Coeur d'Alene Charter coach Logan Grant said. "We kind of got lazy in the fourth quarter and they built some momentum."

Brittany Urbaniak had 12 rebounds and Lexi Turkenburg nine points and eight steals for Coeur d'Alene Charter (11-4), which hosts Mount St. Michael on Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic School.

Kana Shanley scored nine points for North Idaho Christian (9-6), which travels to The Oaks of Spokane Valley on Tuesday.

PLUMMER - Avery Brown-Sonder scored 14 points to lead the Knights past the Warriors in a North Star League game.

"I think our defense in the first quarter set the tone for the game," Lakeside coach Ron Miller said. "We jumped on them early and kept the pressure going on both sides of the ball. It was a good team effort tonight."

Joelle Miller scored 13 points for Lakeside (8-3, 2-1 NSL), which hosts Wallace on Thursday.

Ana Parker scored nine points for Kootenai (0-6, 0-2), which hosts Clark Fork today.

"We were trying to get some execution, hustle and good team play tonight," St. Maries coach Craig Wicks said. "Orofino has improved a bunch."

Jake Mercer scored 12 points for St. Maries (10-2), which travels to the Lake City JV on Thursday.

"It was a really good game," Timberlake coach Jim Simpson said. "Both teams played very well."

Christian Pedersen scored eight points for Coeur d'Alene Charter (10-2), which hosts Kootenai on Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic School.

NAMPA - The Coeur d'Alene Vikings advanced 13 wrestlers, while the Post Falls Trojans sent 11 into the 16-man championship bracket of the annual Rollie Lane Invitational at the Idaho Center.

A.J. Konda (103), Kyle Siegwarth (135), Kenny Staub (140), Jake Graham (145), Colin Comack (160), Johnny Peregrina (160), Caleb Davis (189) and Thomas Tucker each went 3-0 for Coeur d'Alene. Austin Ashby (112), Brendon Northington (119), Hudson Staub (125), Garrett DeMers (171) and Drew Moreno (285) all went 2-1 to remain alive for placing for Coeur d'Alene.

Mitch Crain (112), James Ost (135), Tyler Booth (140), Colton Peugh (145), Austin Wilson (145), Nathan McLeod (152), Kendall Nuss (160) and Cole Jesenouski (171) went 3-0, while Chadd Webster (125), Cody Johnson (189) and Joe Hartley (285) also remain alive for placing for Post Falls after going 2-1.

Wrestlers must win their first bout today to stay alive in the tournament. Team scoring will be tabulated starting with today's matches.
