Shirley Ellen Grist, 74

Shirley Ellen Grist, 74, of Fort Smith, Ark., died Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, in Fort Smith. Shirley was born Oct. 23, 1936, in Spokane, Wash. Shirley was a retired CNA for Armour Heights Nursing Home in Fort Smith.

Shirley is preceded in death by her father, Irvin Madison.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 53 years, Monroe Lensy Grist of Fort Smith; her mother, Nellie Madison of Spokane; three sons, Ronnie Grist and wife Pam of Fort Smith, Larry Grist and wife Karen of Van Buren, Ark., and Richie Grist and wife Michelle of Fort Smith; one sister, Helen Thiele of Post Falls; seven grandchildren, Brent Grist, Chris Grist, Phillip Grist, Corey Grist, Kenleigh Godwin, Jake Grist, Taylor Grist and Cole Grist and one great-granddaughter, Sophia Keltmer Grist.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at Roller Funeral Home in Paris, Ark., under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris. A gathering will be held at the family's home from 5-7 p.m. after the memorial service.
