Ann (Annie) McGreevy Florer, 50

Ann (Annie) McGreevy Florer died Jan. 2, 2011, in her home after a long struggle with cancer. Her beauty and strength will forever inspire her family and friends.

Annie was born June 18, 1960, to Harry and Marian (Hogan) McGreevy. She was born eighth of nine children to an Irish Catholic family in Anaconda, Mont.

She graduated from Anaconda Senior High School in 1978 and Kinman Business University in Spokane, Wash., in 1980. After working several years for CPA firms in Missoula and Billings she returned to school to study nursing. In 1987, she graduated from Montana State University with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. Annie dedicated her life's work to medicine.

She worked at Deaconess Medical Center in Billings as an Intensive Care and Emergency Room registered nurse for nearly 10 years before moving to Seattle, Wash., in 1997 where she continued her nursing career at Swedish Medical Center and a number of other local hospitals. In 2004 she worked for Med Data System as a Medical Coder/Instructor. In 2005 she became a Medical Corporate Compliance Analysis for LYNX Medical Center.

Annie married Doug Florer in 1998 in Seattle. Annie and Doug enjoyed traveling and attending sporting events together. Annie had a lifelong passion for athletics mainly baseball and basketball. She loved her cat, enjoyed gardening, traveling, fly fishing and golf.

They relocated to Post Falls in 2007 where she was able to work from home for LYNX Medical Center as a consultant. She was active with the North Idaho College Student Athletic Host Family Program, NIC Boosters, North Idaho Fly Casters, Toast Masters and Prairie Falls Women's Golf and the North Idaho METH Project. She provided foster home care for kittens on behalf of the Kootenai Humane Society, was active with the Susan B. Komen Foundation "Race for the Cure" in Seattle, Spokane and Montana and is a member of the Real Life Ministry in Post Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Marian and her brother, Jack McGreevy.

She is survived by her husband, Doug Florer; stepdaughter Joanna Florer; her sisters, Bartley Rogers of Buffalo, N.Y., Kathy (Doug) Graveley of Helena, Mont., Mary Jean (Denny Finn) of Spokane, Glynn (Brad) Hines of Billings, Mont.; her brothers, Kevin (Sylvia) of Vienna, Va., Tom (Linda) of Santa Clara, Calif., and Bob of Portland, Ore. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Katie and Neal Hines, Colleen (Munyan) and Craig Rogers, Danielle (Krawl) and Luke Graveley, Patrick, Melissa, Shannon and Jenny McGreevy.

A memorial service and reception will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, at Real Life Ministry, 1866 N. Cecil Road, Post Falls.

A memorial Mass will be held in Anaconda in the spring of 2011.
