Nellie Tate, 92

| January 5, 2011 4:06 AM

Nellie Louise Tate, "Nelease" to friends and family was born in 1918 in Victoria, Texas, the fifth of eight children born to William and Isabella Mackrell. Although she eventually moved from Texas to California and finally to Hayden, she never gave up her Texas accent or her love for her home state.

In 1942 she married Andrew Tate, and they spent 63 loving, happy years together, traveling to reunions of Andy's WWII unit, and making a memorable trip to Spain, Portugal, and Morocco after Andy retired.

Nelease had many friends, and family and friends were the most important part of her life.

She leaves behind her son, Richard; daughter-in-law Lesley and grandson Reed.

She was blessed with several wonderful caregivers in her last years, considering them her new Idaho friends. Nelease volunteered as a pink lady at Valley Hospital in Santa Maria, Calif. As Andy served in WWII, she had a deep concern for our troops overseas, sending care boxes and cookies. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel. A private burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery in Coeur d'Alene.
