| January 4, 2011 4:12 AM

Sandra (Sandi) Leah Cox, 64, of Edmonds, Wash., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, at Swedish Edmonds Hospital.

She was born April 4, 1946, in Bonners Ferry to Ozy and June Brockway. At a young age the family moved to Spokane where she graduated from high school at North Central. In 1964, she married Doug Cox and shortly after moved to Cheney, Wash., and had their first child, Mike. In 1965 the young Cox family moved to Nampa and they lived there for a year until they settled in Bonners Ferry in the fall of 1966. Shortly after their move, they had their second child, Bart.

Sandi was a stay-at-home mom for the first few years while she ran an in-home day care. In 1970, they had their third child, Keli. A couple years after their daughter was born, Sandi started working for the Bonners Ferry School District.

In 1981, the Cox family moved to Coeur d'Alene. Sandi worked for the Coeur d'Alene School District until she retired in 2005. Since retirement Doug and Sandi have lived in Lansing, Mich.; St. Louis, Mo.; and recently moved to the Seattle, Wash., area. She was thrilled to be in the same vicinity as her three kids; Mike Cox, Bart Cox and Keli Johnson, their spouses: Jill, LeAnn and DeWayne and all six grandkids: Isabella, Dyson, Zac, Jake, Baxter and Addison.

She was extremely happy to be near her sister, Robin Houston, as well as her niece, Jodie Newell and nephew Casey Shaw and their families. She is also survived by Tom and Mary Mackey, Don Mackey and their children.

Sandi (known as "Mamie" by her grandkids) devoted her time to her family, especially her grandkids. She also enjoyed attending and watching football games, and/or whatever activities her grandkids were involved in.

A gathering to celebrate Sandi's life will be held Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, in Edmonds, Wash. For information, contact keli.johnson@comcast.net.
