Stateline Speedway announces tentative schedule for 2011

With over 17 divisions and series of racing on the schedule, Stateline Speedway is expecting another busy season in 2011.

The Idaho 200, presented by Napa Auto Parts and featuring the Rocky Mountain Challenge Series, is set for Saturday, Aug. 6 with qualifying and heats culminating with the 200-lap event on Sunday, Aug. 7. The Northwest Pro 4 Trucks and Outlaw Compacts will fill the weekend show with two days of racing.

The Aug. 5 pre-race show will bring a new dimension for the race fans and will feature Northwest Early Stocks, Hobby Stocks and the first ever regional event for Road Runner, Bumble Bee, Hornet and Mosquito racers in a 100-lap invitational.

Other highlights of the season include the Northwest Modified Series, as well as the ICAR Late Model Series. Both groups have six race dates throughout the 2011 season.

The North American Big Rigs are scheduled to return on Thursday, July 21. The race will fall in the middle of Stateline Speedweek, beginning Wednesday, July 20 with Wednesday Night Fever, featuring the Road Runners, Fever 4's and Bump to Pass classes on July 22 and the Stateline Show and Shine/Swap Meet, ending with a 100-lap Northwest Modified and Northwest Early Stock race on Saturday, July 23.

Race teams from across the region will compete in many more events during the 2011 Stateline season, including great shows with the Northwest Pro 4 Alliance, INSSA Super Late Models, ASA-NSRA Sprint Car Series "Super Shoe Show", the annual July 3 Demolition Derby, the all new Stateline Baby Grands, as well as the newly formed Super 4 Modifieds. The nostalgia cars of the Golden Wheels, and the West Coast Vintage Racers will appear on Saturday, May 6.

A brand new venue for the Stateline Street Stocks will begin during the 2011 season. Several regional promoters have banded together with non-competing dates to provide a grassroots racing series aimed for the local level racer in the West Coast Promoters Street Stock Series.

The complete schedule of events will be posted on the website early January 2011 at www.raceidaho.com.

The annual Driver's Registration Meeting for signup will be held at the Red Lion-Templin's Resort in Post Falls on Saturday, Jan. 15 beginning from 9 a.m. to noon.

Holmes joins Shock roster

The Spokane Shock announced on Thursday that wide receiver Brent Holmes has been added to the 2011 roster.

In another move, the Shock traded the rights to quarterback RJ Archer and defensive lineman Torrey Davis to the Kansas City Brigade in exchange for a higher claim order position.

Holmes, 5-feet 11, will enter his fourth season in the AFL after a breakouts season with the Cleveland Gladiators where he recorded 110 receptions for 1,299 yards and 22 touchdowns. As a kick returner, Holmes had 738 yards for an average of 13.9 a return for a touchdown that won a game for the Gladiators over the Shock.

Holmes was also a member of the Philadelphia Soul in 2008, rooming with current Spokane coach Rob Keefe.
