STRAHORN: Payback for city of Hayden

The situation on Strahorn Road in Hayden Lake is goofy. That's for certain. I have friends on Hillview and they tell me the traffic has increased measurably. According to them, nobody knew this was coming. The city of Hayden is understandably upset.

For me, this is poetic justice! The city of Hayden has run roughshod over adjoining neighborhoods for years. Hayden had no problem "creating" an arterial through an established residential neighborhood to feed a proposed development when a simple extension (about 50 feet) of an existing Hayden street was the logical solution. Our affected neighborhood seemed powerless to resist and being in the county we had no voice at the city council meetings. We lost. Only the recession and the mortgage crisis saved the neighborhood.

All this being said, I feel bad for the affected people but for the city of Hayden Lake: Right on Baby! Build them bike paths and dog walks. I'll use ‘em. I'd pay a toll.
