McEUEN: Divide up and play on
Growing up and playing baseball in the city of Coeur d'Alene is a huge part of where I am today, and is a huge part of all the friends I have. Some of the best memories I have made have been downtown under the lights at McEuen Field, one of the best spots in the world to play a baseball game. They don't get much better than that. Now the city of Coeur d'Alene is trying to tear this thing down... for what? A stupid garden?
The city agreed that they would give us an equal or better facility to play at before they ever tore down the field, and for some reason I want to call them out on that. They are trying their hardest to get around this and leave us hanging out to dry. The Legion program has been around forever and there are many people who have put a great deal of time into the program, and McEuen field. Now, they are basically slapping us in the face and trying to turn downtown Coeur d'Alene into some fancy country club full of fountains and gardens that are pointless.
Set the date, have everyone in the city of Coeur d'Alene come down and have people in favor of keeping McEuen stand on one side, while all the others stand on the other. I think the people of the city would be in for a pleasant surprise.
