McEUEN: Experience says leave it alone
I have been laid up with hip surgery and not been able to attend the meetings on McEuen Field. So this is what I think: we had some good mayors in the past, from the ‘30s, ‘40s and ‘50s and so on but it is different now. The mayor and City Council want to tell the people of Coeur d'Alene what they want, not what the people want. I do not like that set-up at all. American Legion Baseball is part of Coeur d'Alene and has been for a long time and I want to see it stay where it is.
As for the boat launch, leave it alone. The mouth of the river is no place for it because there is always a fast current going downstream and would be hard for 25-30-foot boats to handle.
This has to come to a vote by all the people, not just the council. There are some that don't know how to vote anyway, only what the mayor tells them.
I have lived here for 87 years so I think I know a little about the river and the city of Coeur d'Alene.
