COLUMN: Reform explained superbly
I would like to give Kudos to Bob Shillingstad for his "My Turn" column on Saturday, Feb. 18. Mr. Shillingstad did an excellent job informing the public on the needs for educational reform.
If one is following what is going on in Wisconsin then they can see what needs to be done in many of the states in this country, including Idaho. The time has come when we cannot continue giving in to the unions. Those that work for the government need to learn to tighten their belts the same as the rest of us.
I don't want to repeat the information that was in the "My Turn" column, but I would like to add that Tom Luna has made some good starting proposals. Let's get on board and support him.
If we really want to have good education reform in Idaho, we need to get the unions out of our schools and to get the federal government out of education. Write Congressman Labrador, as well as our two senators, and request they support cutting off funding to the Department of Education.
