LCDC: Urban renewal, RIP
Honorable State Representatives:
It's time to put a stop to this boondoggle called Urban Renewal, locally Lake City Development Corp. Taxpayers are being fleeced with your approval. You are the only hope to restore sanity to the out of control power and spending.
1. $10,800 for a new awning for Sandi Bloem's Jewelry Store
2. $300,000 for a new Chamber of Commerce Building
3. $800,000 wasted on Riverstone, empty condos awaiting bankruptcy
4. $343,000 for McEuen Terrace, Public Benefit, Water Fountain
5. $820,000 for Parkside Towers, Public Benefit 0
6. $404,000 Sherman Lofts, and what a beauty she is.
Now they plan to destroy our park and boat dock, launch and replace it with a monument celebrating the Power of LCDC.
All urban renewal projects should have a public vote, with 60 percent approval to pass.
Limit board members' term in office to one term, vote to take place in November election cycle. This should put a stop to some of the skullduggery.
You may have more answers about solving this growing misused law called LCDC.
