Alice Mary Blake, 82

Alice Mary Blake, born Feb. 3, 1929, to Alex and Laura Kobs in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, slipped the bonds of Earth to the loving arms of her eternal Father Feb. 20, 2011.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph D. Blake; sons Donald R. Blake, James Nunes and grandson, Blake R. Ahrens.

She is survived by her sister, Annette Stertz, Colorado Springs, Colo.; children, Stephen Blake, James Blake, Joanne LaMothe (Post Falls), Sandra Blake (Las Vegas, Nev.), Kathleen (Kitty) Kimbrough (Omaha, Neb.), Mark Blake (Gilberts, Ill.), Patricia Winkels (Dover, Tenn.), and Robin Norton (Oldtown), as well as 25 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Beloved mother and nana, Alice of the Palace, brought light and inspiration to every life she touched with her love of learning and will to teach. Her witty banter was constant even to the end; she was selfless in affliction and faithful in the face of daunting trials. She exemplified true femininity in all aspects of her life and work; and courageously upheld the faith to pass on to her family. Nana, we will always, always love you.

Viewing will be held from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, at English Funeral Chapel, Post Falls. The rosary will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011. Funeral Mass will be held at 8 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, both at Immaculate Conception Church, Post Falls. The burial will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls.
