ABUSE: Abortion problem far worse
I must comment on a few items I've seen recently in The Press.
First are the latest in the usual vast number of letters regarding animal abuse or neglect. Here are some partial quotes: "...stories of abuse and neglect haunt my thoughts, daily," "...compassion for one of God's creatures, one that couldn't stand up for themselves or fight back." Please understand that I too hate to hear about such conduct but I also wonder: Where are the voices raised in sympathy for the millions of unborn babies slaughtered in their mothers' wombs by that murderous procedure we call abortion? Aren't you animal lovers just a wee bit embarrassed by this? Talk about those that "can't stand up for themselves or fight back."
Then we have a fellow commenting on Obama's state of the union speech and saying, "Republicans feel everyone needs to stand on their own feet but that's not always the case." That's not completely accurate. Our objection is to those trying to stand on our feet rather than their own.
Finally we have an intelligent comment from Bruce McKay of Hayden: "...money does not improve education." Remember it at the next election for a new levy which, of course, is "for the children." Bah! Humbug! I wish I could go around, tin cup in one hand (gun in the other) collecting money by force when I run short. For countless years countless children have been well educated without the school personnel constantly putting a hand out for more money. Will they stop only when we have to borrow the money they request or do they just want to drain us up to that point?
