Post Falls chamber vote

decides STCU donation

Based on voting by attendees at the Post Falls Chamber of Commerce annual recognition banquet, a local nonprofit organization will receive donations from STCU.

As sponsor of the event, STCU asked attendees to vote for their favorite local charity. The votes have been tallied, and the Post Falls Food Bank will receive $500.

"It's always our privilege to be involved in our community," said STCU chief executive officer Tom Johnson. "Thanks to the members of the Post Falls chamber for helping select this worthy cause."

The food bank is a comprehensive source of social services for the local community, including food distribution, referral services, vouchers for transportation and school supplies for children.

"We're extremely thankful to the guests and members of the Post Falls chamber annual recognition banquet for recognizing the services that we provide in our community," said Sherry Wallis, executive director for the Post Falls Food Bank. "Please know that the funds awarded to us from STCU will touch many lives and will be used to assure that families receive quality food during these difficult economic times."

Normally when STCU sponsors an event, it places giveaways at each place setting. But in tough economic times, the credit union feels it's more meaningful to make donations directly to worthy causes. STCU did the same thing in October, when it sponsored the Coeur d'Alene Chamber of Commerce annual meeting, where attendees selected the Excel Foundation and The North Idaho Violence Prevention Center.

STCU has 14 branches in North Idaho and Eastern Washington and more than $1.4 billion in total assets. It has 94,000 members.
