FOUND: Parents thank community

| December 28, 2011 9:00 PM

We want to thank all of the Kootenai County Volunteer Search and Rescue team, the Kootenai County Sheriff's Department, the Spokane County Sheriff's Office helicopter Air One and the Innercept staff for rescuing our son, Jacob. We are so deeply appreciative of the good will and hard work everyone put in staying up all night looking for our son. As you can imagine, it is hard to have Jacob so far from home during this difficult time in his life. Knowing that he is in a community that cares makes a big difference. We've heard that his rescue was a Christmas Miracle; while that may be true, we think the real story here is one of kind and generous heroes.

Jacob is a creative, funny, and kind young man who has been visited with mental illness. He is having a hard time coming to terms with this difficult and heartbreaking prognosis. He is definitely worth saving. There is such stigma and misinformation about mental illness. For those struggling alone due to the stigma and negative stereotypes, or just want a better understanding, please visit NAMI.org.
