VOICES: Choir delivers present

| December 21, 2011 9:00 PM

The Christmas Spirit is alive and well in Coeur d'Alene, and appeared on our front lawn last week one evening. As my husband and I were getting ready for dinner, our doorbell rang. He went to the door and told me to come. There was what looked to be an entire classroom of students singing a beautiful Christmas carol.

This was my first time to actually have carolers come to my house. They sang beautifully and when they were done they said "Happy Holidays from Lakes Middle School Choir." They mentioned what grade they were from, but I can't remember exactly. What I saw was a bunch of youth spreading joy in a world that is consumed with the frantic holiday pace. It was one of the best Christmas gifts I have ever received and I will remember the impression they made on my husband and me. I asked them if they were fundraising and they said "No, just caroling." I am so thankful to live in a community where our kids are brought up to make a positive impact on the world.
