RENT: Hypocrisy is an evil, too
Well, I can no longer do nothing and allow evil to triumph. As a writer proclaimed the sin of "RENT" (Letters, Dec. 7), I can no longer ignore the glaring evil of hypocrisy as it masquerades itself in righteousness.
Our town has shown countless plays and movies over the years depicting heterosexuals engaged in all manner of behavior (some would even say "sinful") all under the watchful eye of God. Yet, according to this writer, God has not withdrawn benediction up to this point. However, this may not continue to be the case if we allow "RENT" to stage here in this very upright and decent town (according to the writer).
Really? God can turn a blind eye to hypocrisy, spousal abuse, child abuse, greed, addiction, (the list goes on), but this play is going to be the tipping point?
I can think of a better way to combat evil than picketing, censorship, etc. Love your neighbor as yourself. As we do this, it might also help if we stop taking our neighbor's inventory and focus on taking our own. By the way, if movies and plays come here that I have no desire to see, I refrain from attending and find other things to do.
