FIRED: And he should be glad

| December 4, 2011 9:00 PM

I'm compelled to reply to Bob Payne's remarks in the Wednesday, Nov. 30 opinion column to an earlier editorial headlined "Listen up: Work ethics calls."

Bob says: "It is most unfortunate that companies can still rake in huge profits by not only managing the business with poor ethics but also hiring those individuals you spoke about who all too frequently render poor service and are highly unprofessional."

I would sure like to know where Bob gets his facts. Hey Bob, care to mention "all those companies?" How about just a dozen?

Bob, it's one thing to get fired from a company that doesn't appreciate your high ethics, but don't you think they did you a favor? Did you choose to work for that company or did they make you work for that miserable unethical company? Doesn't this give you a chance to apply to one of those companies that have the HIGH ETHICAL standards you desire?

Bob goes on to ask "How many companies are raking in huge profits at the expense of good employees by cutting benefits, not matching 401k plans, cutting hours and falsely decreasing wages."

Could it be, Bob, that those "companies" are trying their best to keep all their employees working even though there isn't enough work for everybody; so the company cuts back from everyone to KEEP everyone employed during these tough times?

I get that you are mad at your employer for firing you and retaining the other person. They did you a favor, Bob.
