STATUE: How peaceful is this?

| August 28, 2011 10:00 PM

I realize the debate over the statue of the Hindu god Genesha on Sherman Avenue may be old, but something I came across recently brought things anew to me.

Since last month, I have read and seen some videos where there have been attacks in five separate cities in India where the "peaceful" Hindus who worship Genesha, burned Christian churches, killed some Christians and beat many others because of their Christian faith. Is this really what we want to be represented in our community?

And, since the Hindu religion believes in reincarnation, the statue could be melted down and who knows what it might come back as? To everyone's satisfaction perhaps it would reincarnate itself into Paul Bunyan.
