CROSSING: Still terribly dangerous

| August 26, 2011 10:00 PM

Many months ago Idaho DOT had FINALLY installed a stop sign on Government Way at Lancaster. For months it was covered with plastic, never becoming an active four-way stop.

We who frequent the notoriously dangerous intersection daily believed the wait for the stop sign was somehow tied to the start of the new lights on the 95. Not so. The unused stop signs on Government at Lancaster were taken down, leaving it one of the most dangerous crossings in the county.

What genius spent our tax dollars to install a stop sign which was never used and then decided to take it down while leaving drivers to the mercy of oncoming traffic and the ice?

Also; WHY, when they painted the new crosswalk, is it so far behind the street crossing one can't see past the brush on the northwest corner to make a safe crossing?

How many tax dollars, insurance dollars and personal injuries have to occur before common sense prevails?

Our tax dollars were spent for the signs as well as the installation. They would improve safety for all. WHERE ARE THEY?
