BOISE (AP) - The longtime secretary of the Idaho Senate is retiring
Senate President Pro Tem Brent Hill says 67-year-old Jeannine Wood served the chamber for a total of 34 years, starting as an Idaho Senate attache in 1976. Hill says Wood will be replaced by 32-year-old Jennifer Novak, who was among 120 applicants for the job.
Novak has worked for the Senate since 2008 as a pool secretary.
Hill, a state lawmaker from Rexburg who leads the Senate's Republican majority, says the chamber is confident Novak will be able to carry on Wood's legacy. Wood has been a popular parliamentarian with both Republicans and Democrats, who praise her for her fairness.
