Robert (Bob) E. Oldendorph, 85

| August 18, 2011 10:00 PM

After a long struggle with Alzheimer's, Bob Oldendorph, of Hayden, passed away early Sunday morning, Aug. 14, 2011, in the presence of his loving wife and family.

He was born April 26, 1926, in Sedalia, Mo., the oldest of three children. He moved to California with his family in 1939, where after graduating from Alhambra High School, he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a signalman. After completing his military service, he attended and earned a degree in engineering from the University of Southern California. He was employed with Westinghouse Elevator for 35 years, enabling the family to live in Southern California, Northern California, and New Jersey. After retirement he moved to North Idaho.

A devoted and loving husband, father, grandpa and great grandpa, Bob's favorite place was at home and being with his family. You could always find him tinkering around the garage and in his yard. He truly enjoyed all the beauty of North Idaho. He loved big band music, was an avid history enthusiast, and he had an endless search for knowledge and enjoyed sharing it with others. Bob was never without a smile on his face. He touched the lives of so many.

He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy, of Hayden; Children: Bill and Elaine Wagner, of Las Vegas, Nev.; Wendy Fehlings, of Coeur d' Alene; Rob and Kristie Kinucan, of Alpine, Texas; Mark Kinucan of Anchorage, Alaska; Patti and Gary Felice, of Milford, N.J.; and Beth Lange, of Coeur d' Alene. Grandchildren: Jenny, Natalie, Sara, Joe, Jonathan, Katie, Paige, Nick, Michael, Erin and Jordan. Great Grandchildren: Bianca, Korey, Kayden, Katie, Brooke, Ava, Kalea, Payton, Riley, Rocco and Brinley.

He was preceded in death by his Great Grandson, Conner Langford, on May 6, 2011.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Hospice of North Idaho, and the entire staff at Creekside Inn Memory Care Community. Your care and support has been immeasurable.
