Jeanne Grunsted, 85

| August 16, 2011 10:00 PM

March 15, 1926 - Aug. 11, 2011

Passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011. She was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Arthur R. Transue of Lexington, Neb., where she lived with her now deceased brother Alan until her graduation from high school.

After one year at the University of Nebraska, she married Donald, with whom she would have celebrated 65 years of marriage on Aug. 25 of this year. They raised two children. She worked as an office administrator in the bay area of California at Lockheed and Amdahl corporations, then 10 years as a health secretary at Cupertino High School. She and Don retired in Lake Wildwood (Penn Valley), Calif., where, as an avid golfer, she was president of the 9 Holers Ladies Golf Club, and earned a membership in the exclusive Hole-In-One Club. She was also a terrific ballroom and square dancer. Thirteen years later they moved to Hayden to be close to their son and daughter-in-law.

Jeanne gave of herself in many ways, constantly looking for a way to meet the needs of others. She participated in the Phi Alpha Kappa Sorority raising funds for Multiple Sclerosis, and the 3Cs of Coeur d'Alene.

She is survived by her husband, Don; son Scott and his wife Carol of Hayden; daughter Pamela; grandchildren Joshua, Heather and Daniel, all of Corvallis, Ore., Brandon and wife Wiyanna of Post Falls, and Vanessa of Hayden; and great-grandchild Nykyrian, as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at the Life Care Center of Coeur d'Alene, 500 West Aqua, corner of Highway 95.
