BUDGETS: One way to save

| August 12, 2011 10:00 PM

How can Idaho cut costs in city, county and state government entities? Consolidations.

Idaho has 44 counties and 115 public school districts. That alone is a huge tax burden to taxpayers. There should be only one public school district per county. That would save big money to taxpayers!

Consolidate all public entities that can be consolidated such as fire, police, highway districts, etc. etc. That would improve coverages and eliminate too much bureaucracy. Simplicity is the key to success, but too much automation such as in stores with self-checkout I refuse to use; they eliminate jobs. People need to work to survive.

The legislature needs to consider passing laws to eliminate self-checkouts, which might improve employment statistics, also close all state-controlled liquor stores. They can save millions by privatization.
