BOISE (AP) - A 69-year-old pedestrian was hospitalized with serious injuries after being hit by a Jeep in Idaho's capital city.

Police say both the man who was struck and the driver of the vehicle are from Caldwell, which is about 30 miles west of Boise.

The pedestrian was walking from a parking lot into heavy traffic when he was hit by the Jeep Cherokee, according to officers who arrived at the scene of the collision. The driver of the vehicle was traveling with his two young children and police say the family was traumatized but not harmed during the crash.

Police say the pedestrian was taken to a nearby hospital with what appeared to be serious injuries, including possible head trauma.
