Darylene Vedder, 86
Darylene Vedder, lifetime resident of North Idaho, passed away Aug. 3, 2011. Darylene was born May 13, 1925, in Rose Lake where she lived until her last year in high school.
She then moved to Coeur d'Alene, where she met her future husband, Charles Vedder. Darylene and Charles were married on Aug. 16, 1947. Some of the last words spoken by Darylene during the final weeks of her life were conversations with Charles, who preceded her in death by two years.
Darylene enjoyed living in North Idaho. She spent many weekends camping, hiking, fishing and even motorcycle riding. During her lifetime, Darylene volunteered at the USO, worked for the telephone company, Washington Water Power Company, the city of Coeur d'Alene, and was also an Avon Lady. But her real job - and the one most important to her - was raising her two children. She had a great love for all children, as well as for animals (as long as they were cats).
For the past 11 years, Darylene was cared for by her loving extended family at the Hayden Valley Assisted Living home, and over the past several weeks was also assisted in her passage to peace by a band of angels from the Hospice of North Idaho. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks for the care and joy provided by the compassionate people at the Assisted Living home and Hospice organization. Your work is important.
Darylene is survived by her son, Kim; her son, Barry and his wife Paula; grandchildren (her "little bugs") Kevin, Keith, Ben and Patrick Vedder, and Charlotte Davis; several great-grandchildren and friends.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 North Fourth St., Coeur d'Alene. A graveside service will be held for Darylene at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d'Alene.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that friends of Darylene consider a donation to Hospice of North Idaho.
