Pete Montemayor, 71

Pete Montemayor, born in San Antonio Texas, March 25, 1940, to Rafaela and Jesus Montemayor, departed to be with his Lord and Savior on Aug. 1, 2011, in Rathdrum.

Pete Montemayor passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family on Aug. 1, 2011.

Born and raised in San Antonio with his three brothers, Jay, Ray and Eddie and two sisters Marie and Rosie. He graduated from Burbank High School and in 1967, met and married the love of his life and soul mate Patricia A. Kerr.

Pete and Pat moved from Texas to Idaho in 1971 where they raised their two sons and two daughters.

Pete loved spending time in the outdoors with his family. He enjoyed sharing his love and respect for the outdoors with his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his devotion and love of family, his valued friendship and earned respect.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jay and brother-in-law Gene.

Survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Patricia; children: Jodie Montemayor, Pete and Barbara Montemayor of Houston, Sabrina and John Fernquist, and Yolanda and Corey Williams. He was the proud grandfather and great-grandfather of Samantha (Matt), Zachary (Ashley), McKenzie (Chris), Colton, Averee, Jesse, Amber, Jared, Maddie, Ethan, Emery, Tavyn and numerous nieces and nephews.

At Pete's request, no services will be held. The family will gather to scatter his ashes in the mountains where they enjoyed spending so much time with him.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in his name to the Post Falls Cancer Center or Hospice of North Idaho.
