SILVERWOOD: OK with zoning request
Your article on the front page of The Press, April 21, makes me chuckle. Although the lady who expressed her objection to rezoning the property next to Silverwood feels she may suffer from additional noise and distractions if Silverwood expands, I for one have very little sympathy for her plight.
This is a typical case of someone not doing their homework before buying property. Her idea of having a "remote homestead" within two miles of a major theme park is totally beyond my comprehension. If she was truly looking for a quiet, remote location, it ain't along Highway 95. Also, it's not like the theme park just appeared after she bought her property; it had been there for more than 15 years.
I just hope that the county doesn't put too much weight on these types of objections in making a decision to rezone the property in question. Silverwood is probably the biggest tourist attraction in the area, and as such generates a great portion of the tourist revenue many need to survive.
