Dupin passes United Way Board leadership to Rick McMaster
Rick McMaster is the new president of the United Way of Kootenai County board of directors.
Local businessman Jean Paul Dupin of Advanced Benefits served as president of the United Way board the past year.
McMaster, director of the North Idaho Health Network, said there is great need and opportunity to help local communities.
"Today we are asked to help charities distribute aid across the globe, some using very sophisticated high-profile marketing support. Yet at the same time we have so many local challenges to face," he said. "I feel we first need to help people in our own communities through our contributions and our volunteer efforts." New United Way board members are: Teresa Benner, city of Post Falls; Stan Cramer, UPS; Wendy Hahn, Kootenai Health; Jonathan Hallin, Lukins and Annis; Jeffry Owens, Owens & Crandall, PLLC; Jeff Smith, Edward Jones.
Retiring board members are Sid Armstrong, Post Falls School District; Shaun Wooley, Wells Fargo Bank; Renata McLeod, city of Coeur d'Alene; Brad Murray, Lakeland School District.
Seminar designed for people who are behind on mortgage payments
Foreclosure mitigation specialists Barbara Leachman and Sarah Pelton of Community Action Partnership will be presenting information and answering questions about options outside of foreclosure at a seminar from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Coeur d'Alene Public Library.
The seminar is designed for people who are behind on their mortgage payments, but everyone is welcome.
"The recent foreclosure crisis has caused a great need for changes in the mortgage servicing business," according to a press release.
"Lenders are much more willing to work with families to help them keep their homes."
The federal government has become involved with incentives for many lenders to participate in a new program called the Home Affordable Modification Program.
Leachman and Pelton will present information about options and programs that might help people keep their homes. This seminar will help people understand the foreclosure process including what typical timelines are and how the lender evaluates their request for assistance. It is free.
Preregistration is required to hold a seat, call 770-3005 or 1 (800) 326-4843 and ask to register for the Foreclosure Prevention Seminar.
Coeur d'Alene Pediatrics' Neff receives recognition
Terence Neff, M.D. Coeur d'Alene Pediatrics, has been named to the Meaningful Use Vanguard by the Washington & Idaho Regional Extension Center for leadership in adoption and meaningful use of electronic health records.
The MUV program, developed by the Department of Health and Human Services' Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, recognizes and celebrates champions of EHR adoption and meaningful use.
Neff was recognized by WIREC because of his commitment to using certified EHR's for the purpose of improving patient quality of care and for helping to lead the way for other healthcare providers in demonstrating meaningful use.
Neff was selected based upon criteria such as experience in using EHR as a clinical management tool, a willingness to share expertise with others, and a successful transition from paper records to an EHR.
Coeur d'Alene Pediatrics' conversion to being an "Electronic Office" began in July 2007.
