SCHOOLS: Hazel & team superior

| April 24, 2011 10:00 PM

I am a retired resident of Coeur d'Alene who has been involved in doing some volunteer tutoring at Lakes Middle School this year as well as being a volunteer member of the Coeur d'Alene School Levy Committee. I have had the opportunity to meet and work with Superintendent Hazel Bauman and many other school staff members.

My experience with them has been very positive. They are a very hard working group of people who do have the best interests of their students in mind as they go about their business. This is in large part the reason why the Coeur d'Alene School District has done so well on the yearly academic testing (rating first among the 13 largest school districts in the state of Idaho). Amongst all the vilification and vitriol that is prevalent today, I think it is important to acknowledge and applaud those in our school district that are doing the heavy lifting.

I find Hazel Bauman to be dedicated, hard working, open to hearing new ideas and desirous of excellence in both her staff and students. We are fortunate to have such a model leader in our school district and I would encourage others to communicate their appreciation to her.
