Julie Tosh, 69
Julie Ann (Fisher) Tosh passed away April 19, 2011, at her son's home in Post Falls with her husband at her side following a brief illness. She was a giving person and was a donor. Julie was born Jan. 23, 1942, in Coeur d'Alene to Jack and Trudy (Peterson) Fisher.
As a child, she and her brother spent time during the summer at their grandparent's farm on the Rathdrum Prairie. She graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School in 1960 and joined the U.S. Navy. Her unit marched in the J.F. Kennedy inaugural parade in 1961. Julie met William "Bill" Tosh in 1960 and they were married Sept. 22, 1962, in Coeur d'Alene.
Julie enjoyed fishing and hunting with her husband during those early years. Later she enjoyed crafts, such as stained glass, painting and ceramics. Outdoor activities included skiing, swimming, boating and sun tanning and playing cards with friends. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
Julie loved to travel and in 1988 she and her mother traveled to Copenhagen, Denmark, to visit relatives there. She had a passion for being by the water, and made several trips to the Oregon Coast. She also took a "See America" train trip around the United States with her friend, Elaine White. Julie was well known for her love of gardening and her love for pets. She was a very giving and thoughtful woman, one whom you could always talk to, as many did.
As a teenager, she worked at the Boat Drive Inn, Claire Pendar in Post Falls, and then GTE for more than 20 years. She started in Coeur d'Alene and then was transferred to Everett, Wash., then again to Santa Barbara, Calif., where she retired. After retiring from GTE, she moved back to Post Falls and went back to work in 2000. She was a product specialist and trainer at Coldwater Creek until her passing. She enjoyed everyone she worked with and touched many peoples' lives. She loved to help people in any way that she could.
Julie is survived by her loving husband, Bill of Post Falls; her sons, David Tosh of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Chad Tosh of Post Falls; grandchildren, Miranda and Max; her "older brother" as she liked to say, Terry Fisher and his wife, Marcia of Coeur d'Alene; nephews, Pat and Mat Fisher; and uncles, aunts and cousins.
We will all miss Julie, all the laughs, sense of humor and her never ending smile. Thank you for being such a wonderful wife, mother and sister!
