TAXES: Patriotic millionaires, ante up

| April 20, 2011 10:00 PM

I find it extremely hypocritical, of these so called Patriots claiming they would like to have their income taxes raised. As most of these Patriots do not pay income taxes, they instead pay taxes based on capital gains and dividends.

In no way am I in favor of raising income taxes on anybody. However, I would like to see our fine Senators and Congressmen from our great state, introduce a new tax bill that would keep the current 15 percent tax on dividends and capital gains up to say $12 million per year. Anything over that would be taxed at a rate of let's say 50-75 percent.

I would respect them if they would be willing to raise taxes on themselves and not the people who now create jobs, and/or produce things. It is one thing to produce something versus one who owns or acquires something (stocks, bonds, etc.).

Now that tax day has passed, I would be curious to see how much more monies these fine Patriots sent in under the fine stewardship of good ole Uncle Sammy. P.S. I wonder if President Obama would pass that into law? I'd bet not.
