IRONMAN: Poem for a big finish
An Ironman Prayer
Sunday morning breaks the light is dim,
I stand before the shore prepared to swim.
A thousand thoughts weave rhythmically in my mind,
The last I dare to think is crossing the finish line.
It seems eternity will pass this day,
Lord, give me Your Great Strength and make a way.
Crown every effort, all the training with success,
I know that impossible things, bring out my personal best.
I pray You make a path in waters deep,
And safety round about me You will keep.
Stamina and fortitude I ask upon the seat,
On the many miles of biking I'll complete.
A second wind I pray for the last gear,
Of this journey I've been on for this past year.
The grace to run the race of my lifetime,
And make it safely past the finish line.
