Boise woman arrested after sidewalk spree

BOISE (AP) - Police say a Boise woman who drove along a 100-foot stretch of sidewalk late Saturday was arrested under suspicion of drunken driving.

Jail records show 28-year-old Beatriz Castro remained held in Ada County early Monday.

Police say Castro was the driver of a vehicle that veered off a Boise street and onto the sidewalk area at about 11:30 p.m. that night. Officers say they pulled the woman over and her blood alcohol level was above the legal limit.

Castro faces a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence.

Officers say they later found the woman had left her two young children alone at a west Boise residence and she also faces a felony charge of injury to a child. The children were placed in the custody of relatives.
